Introduction
Honed ("we," "our," or "the app") is an interview preparation app that helps job seekers practice, improve, and build confidence. This policy explains what information Honed collects, why we collect it, and how we handle it. We do not sell your data, we do not serve ads, and we do not share your information with data brokers or advertisers.

None of the data listed above is used for tracking as defined by Apple, meaning we never combine your data with third-party data for advertising or share it with data brokers.
AI-Powered Features
Honed uses artificial intelligence to generate personalized coaching feedback, answer analysis, interview trend research, and career guidance. When you use these features, the text you provide (such as your answers, job descriptions, or career goals) is sent to third-party AI service providers for processing. These providers process your text solely to generate a response and do not use it to train their models on your data. No audio or video recordings are sent to these services — only text.
Data Storage
Your data is stored locally on your device using iOS's built-in storage. If you enable iCloud, certain data (such as saved answers and job applications) may sync across your Apple devices via iCloud Key-Value Storage, which is governed by Apple's own privacy policy. Audio and video recordings from mock interviews remain on your device and are not uploaded to any server.
Data Retention
Your data persists on your device for as long as the app is installed. If you delete the app, locally stored data is removed. iCloud-synced data can be managed through your device's iCloud settings. Text sent to AI services for processing is not retained by those services beyond the duration needed to generate a response.
Third-Party Services
Honed integrates with the following third-party services, each governed by its own privacy policy:
Apple Sign In and StoreKit — for authentication and subscription management. AI service providers (including services by OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google) — for generating personalized feedback and coaching. These providers receive only the text you submit for analysis and process it solely to return a response.
Children's Privacy
Honed is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Your Rights
Since your data is stored locally on your device, you have direct control over it at all times. You can delete any saved answers, job applications, or recordings from within the app. You can delete all data by uninstalling the app. To manage iCloud-synced data, visit your device's iCloud storage settings.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
